Heat Defeat Bucks; Put Space Between Themselves and Sixers

With the win tonight over the Milwaukee Bucks the Heat improve to 39-34 on the season. It is a critical win for the Heat as they also put some distance between themselves and the Philadelphia 76ers – expanding their lead for the 5th spot to 1.5 games.

This is also critical as the Heat are scrapping to win games with only 9 left in the season. The Bulls are hot, the Pistons are not, and the Sixers are hanging tough despite losing Elton Brand for the remainder of the season.

The Heat want to get at least a 5th spot so that they can avoid a possible first round matchup with the Orlando Magic or Boston Celtics – neither team would be a good matchup for the Heat out of the gate. Then again, a series against the Hawks could swing either way, too.

Heat Fighting For Playoff Seed; Take On Bucks

After their embarrassing loss to the Bulls, the Heat suffered more damage as they slipped to the 6th spot on the playoff totem poll. Tonight’s matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks serves as a chance for the Heat to get a win and climb back in front of the Sixers for the 5th seed.

The Heat have a tough matchup as the Bucks have been dramatically overhauled by new coach Scott Skiles with a more blue-collar, defensive mentality. The Bucks have been playing without Michael Redd and Andrew Bogut.

Heat Rim Out With Loss at Conseco

Conseco Field House should be changed to Conseco House of Horror when Miami plays there.

As the ball was inbounded to Dwyane Wade with 2.8 seconds left, the crowd gasped as they could feel the win about to slip out of their hands. Then Wade’s shot went in and out and the red lights buzzed as the result was Indiana 90, Miami 88.

It was the Heat’s 17th straight loss on the road – all of those at Conseco’s Field House. If they sold fire insurance, it would be a great endorsement because the Heat obviously can’t catch fire there. Despite having arguably the league’s next MVP playing, the Heat didn’t hold an advantage as Wade had an off night shooting just 5-24 from the field. Anyone of those misses could have made a difference in the result.

Miami falls to 38-33, still holding on to that 5th playoff spot. Up next, Chicago – another tough opponent which has played Miami strong of late.

Heat Have Biggest Game of Season Tonight

Wade dunks against the RaptorsDwyane Wade is playing like an MVP and the Heat roll into Cleveland tonight on a back to back to face another MVP candidate. Perhaps the two best players in the league right now are Wade and Lebron James (heres hoping to a 2010 union in Miami!) and the Heat have a chance also to slide into the 4th playoff spot.

Coming off their win last night against the Toronto Raptors, the Heat have won 3 of their last 4 games and have seen Wade score over 40 points in three of those last 4 games in a monster stretch of production. What’s next for the Heat’s superstar? Outduel Lebron James.

When these two get together, it is a battle. You can see the intensity on the court as both players want to beat each other. The only question is, how to value this friendly rivalry? Is this Magic vs. Bird? Both of these teams have been to the Finals, Wade’s Heat won it all in 2006 due to his MVP performance while James’ team was arguably undeserving of appearing the the Finals. Then again, there were those who felt the Heat 2006 was undeserving of a title, too. Perhaps we have failed to truly gauge the greatness of these two young players.

We will get to see more from them tonight. For the Heat, it could be a huge win to tie up the season series 2-2 against a Cavs team that seems to be escaping the Heat more than beating them. The Cavs could quiet the doubters with a win at home.
