The Miami Heat took a gamble on Friday on the 23 year old point guard who was drafted out of high school.
Shaun Livingston, aside from being in a Gatorade commercial with DWade (see below and watch closely), is best known for a horrific injury that almost ended his career and some speculated if he would be able to walk again. He underwent successful re-constructive surgery of his left knee and since sitting out the 2007-2008 NBA season, Livingston has turned heads.
In order for the Heat to make room for the #4 overall pick of the 2004 draft, the Heat waived Tre Kelley.

What does this mean? Obviously there will be some competition for the point guard spot. It is a gamble because it remains to be seen how Livingston’s knee will hold up for an entire season. And on a team that has had recent bad history with knee injuries, the Heat ought to be very cautious – after all, they just sent Jason Williams away whose chronic knee tendinitis really shackled his ability to play consistently with the Heat. Livingston just had his left knee rebuilt.
