Kobe Accuses Shaq of Paying Off Women?!

Kobe Bryant told investigators that Shaquille O’Neal, his Laker teammate at the time, had paid up to $1 million to women to keep them quiet about “situations like this”. O’Neal was informed of the comment last September, about two weeks before Laker training camp opened in Hawaii. Prosecution investigators made an unsuccessful attempt to question him. His agent, Perry Rogers, said Tuesday that the allegation in Bryant’s statement was untrue and “undeserving of a response.” The incident report is part of the sealed file in the criminal case that was brought against Bryant last year and dropped this month. “Bryant made a comment to us about what another teammate does in situations like these,” Winters wrote. “Bryant stated he should have done what Shaq (Shaquille O’Neal) does. Bryant stated that Shaq would pay his women not to say anything. He stated Shaq has paid up to a million dollars already for situations like this. He stated he, Bryant, treats a woman with respect, therefore they shouldn’t say anything.” It is unclear precisely what Bryant meant by the remarks attributed to him. There have been no published reports of O’Neal ever being accused of any sex crime. He was charged with misdemeanor battery in Orange County, Fla., in 1998 after a 23-year-old Walt Disney World employee claimed he grabbed her neck, but the case was dismissed in 2000. According to sources involved in the investigation, the authorities wanted to ask O’Neal about a party he held at his Orlando, Fla., mansion on Thanksgiving 2002, when a 22-year-old waitress working at the gathering claimed Bryant had groped her.All season, O’Neal knew of the comments that detectives claimed Bryant had said about him.

Respect?! What do you call respect? Now, I know that the case was dropped but he still admitted to having consensual relations with her, and cheating on his wife. If that’s respect, then Marge Schott is an angel..

Jordan says he’s not planning to play for Miami Heat

According to the Miami Herald, Michael Jordan told ESPN that he is not planning on playing for the Miami Heat. He stated that the rumors were unfounded and that he had no intentions of returning to play for any NBA team. Pat Riley said that the Heat had not had any communication with Jordan since getting O’Neal from Los Angeles via the trade. O’Neal polled his teammates on whether or not they wanted Jordan on the Heat, but he personally opposed the idea.

Dont expect to see Carter with Heat

According to the latest report from the Sun-Sentinel, the newest disgruntled star, Vince Carter, is not on his way to Miami. At least, not for the time being.

And why should he be? We already have enough perimeter players on this team. We have a strong enough ‘tweener’ in Dwayne Wade whose stock has been rising since the Heat drafted him. Plus, who knows which Vince Carter the Heat would be getting. The Carter who was injured and watched from the bench as his team made the playoffs without him? That is not exactly a glowing recommendation.

Sure, Carter with Shaq would be a ridiculous combo. But for the Heat’s needs, it would be overkill and you risk poisoning the water supply. Think about the Lakers and the ego battle waged there. I am not saying Carter would be Kobe, but there would be a definite question about who gets the ball in the 4th quarter. With Wade, his youth and his inexperience, both make him best suited to defer to Shaq without bruising his own ego. Wade’s tempermant is such that he would make a better teammate at this point as well. Carter just seems to be trying to cash in on the latest trend – disgruntled superstar clamors for a ticket out instead of honoring the contract he signed and trying to make that team win. Why would we want that here?
